Restoration
The House Box provides a knowledgeable and experienced service in all aspects of restoration and maintenance of historic and listed buildings, placing an emphasis on the use of traditional skills and materials. Mark has worked at many National Trust and English Heritage sites including; Croome Park, Tewskesbury Abbey and Alderton Church. The House Box repairs timber framed buildings, oak lath panels, replacement wattle and daub, joinery repairs and much more.
Sash Windows
Many sash windows are restorable. We offer a comprehensive restoration service that will bring your sash windows back to life. Retaining their unique visual appeal is important to period properties. We repair or replace rotten sills, cords, weights, shutters, carry out SPAB guided sash box repairs and replace antique glass and beading. We also supply and fit the corresponding window furniture.
Oak Plank Doors
Our range of oak plank doors are faithful copies of original interior doors. Made the traditional way of driving rose head nails through the ledges and clenched over, creating a strong door without the need of screws or glue. We carefully select oak which has been kiln dried, this reduces shrinkage and movement. The doors can be supplied unfinished, bees waxed or oiled. We can supply and fit hand forged T-hinges, Suffolk latches, locks and much more. We also can arrange to deliver doors made to your specific requirements so you can choose to fit it yourself.
